Thus, attending to one object only but to a large number of different properties thereof is special—it is a very different 11 I have been using the phrase that experiences attribute properties, by which I mean they represent objects as having properties. But it has been argued that perceptual experiences do not represent anything, nor do they attribute properties to anything; rather, they put us in direct contact with the world (Campbell 2002; Travis 2004; Brewer 2011; Martin 2004; see also Nanay 2014c and 2015b for discussion on the compatibility of these two views).
